Quiet Stone
Location: Bridge
Yes, she should be letting her pilots do this, but there was just something about this time. It was special, something different, something that she was gonna have to get used to. +comm+ Lovelace to Deep Space Nine, requesting permission to disembark, +comm+ she said simply but confidently.
+comms+ Ada Lovelace, request granted. Follow undocking procedures. Once done, we'll release you and keep one-quarter impulse until you are clear of station traffic. +comms+
+comms+ Copy that, Deep Space Nine. +comms+ And, with that, Aleshanee started the procedures. The steps were simple, but there was a calmness with them. After mere minutes, the small Ju'day raider was released into the vastness of space. The engine lit up as the thrusters kicked in.
With a few taps, a course was set in; they were still within that annoying 'no warp zone', but this was a joyous time, hence the Lovelace jumping to low-warp. Slipping out of the helm console and handing it back to Jaime, Aleshanee smiled, "Thank you," she said, simply walking to the command chair and taking a seat.
Jaime slid back into the helm seat as Aleshanee vacated it, settling in with the relaxed familiarity of someone who truly belonged there. Her fingers danced briefly across the console as she verified the course and engine output. She glanced up toward the command chair, one eyebrow lifting. "Anytime, Captain," she said easily. "Though I should probably point out that you just made your pilot sit here and watch you do her job." Her tone was light, the faint grin on her face making it clear she was teasing.
The stars ahead shifted slightly as she made a few minor adjustments to their departure vector, guiding the small raider cleanly away from Deep Space Nine’s traffic lanes. “I mean," she added, tilting her head thoughtfully, “you didn’t do bad.” Then a heartbeat later, “For a former helmsman.”
"Careful now, remember who you are talking to," Aleshanee added with a smirk as she worked to relax into the new command chair. It was gonna take a while to get used to it. As of now, there was never meant to be one, but it weirdly felt good. Now, it was just the waiting game, "hold us steady," Aleshanee added as she started looking over reports, not from the ship, but what was happening out in the universe.
