Following the conflict, the Federation's resources were spread thin.

With reconstruction efforts of member worlds, but also in aiding independent worlds affected by the war, and even aiding enemy worlds from the war, providing substantial assistance to help Cardassia recover from the final attacks from the Dominion.

A New Dawn
Current Mission:

Mission 1: A New Dawn

War has ended, rebuilding has started. The DMZ is in uncertain times, as the Maquis have faded but might shift into a defense force for the colonies within and along the DMZ.

The small crew of the Ada Lovelace raider is at Deep Space Nine on some RnR, after dropping off a representative from the DMZ colonies to persuade the Federation and Starfleet to allow the Maquis to transition into a defense force.

For the crew of the Lovelace, it meant meeting old flames and friends, and meeting new crew, while trying to figure out how to live in this post-war period.

Again, please keep in mind that it must always be added to the SIM, in line with Star Trek’s tone and community guidelines.

Mission: A New Dawn
Posted on Thu Dec 11th, 2025 @ 3:05am by Chief Warrant Officer Karzen Son of Arjune, Son of Ragan MD, MPH & Flight Officer Phelan Sabrehagen

Karzen had been reluctant to move many of his things to the Ada Lovelace, since he had told "Colonel" Vedrum his agreement to join "Commander" Aleshanee's crew was contingent on the Maquis becoming a "legitimate" defense or security force. Karzen felt he should probably take the number of mental "air quotes" (there was another set) as a measure of his apprehensions about this next phase in his life. It wasn't as though the DMZ didn't need him. Would it be so bad to go to work for one of the more "official" (more mental air quotes) clincs that were popping…

Mission: A New Dawn
Posted on Wed Dec 10th, 2025 @ 9:59pm by Chief Warrant Officer Karzen Son of Arjune, Son of Ragan MD, MPH & Sergeant Benjamin "Ben" Hall

Karzen was getting weary of waiting for the rest of the crew to make time for physicals. They were still at DS9. There were plenty of things he could be, and would rather be, doing than sitting around in the ship's little infirmary. Enough was enough. He hit the 'all call' button on the comm unit in his office.

"If you haven't had a physical," he said, as his voice echoed throughout the ship, "Get your ass to the Infirmary, forthwith... RFN even. And if you don't know what RFN means: The 'R' stands for 'Right', the 'N' stands for…

Mission: A New Dawn
Posted on Sun Nov 30th, 2025 @ 11:19pm by Chief Warrant Officer Karzen Son of Arjune, Son of Ragan MD, MPH & Technical Sergeant Decker

Karzen looked down the list of crewmembers who hadn't stopped in yet for their physical. The list was getting smaller, at least. That was something. He selected one at random and hit the all-call button.

+taps+ Technical Sergeant Decker, +taps+ he said. +taps+ This is the Herald of the All-Knowing and All-Seeing Great Bird of the Galaxy, speaking to you from on high. Stop touching yourself before you go blind and report to the Infirmary for a check-up... and if you really have been touching yourself, do have the courtesy to wash your hands first. +taps+

Mission: A New Dawn
Posted on Sun Nov 23rd, 2025 @ 5:26am by Commander Aleshanee & Flight Officer Phelan Sabrehagen & Senior Technician Jaime Mallory

Aleshanee stepped out of the shower and, letting out a sigh, her body was covered in scars from battles and, unfortunately, torture. She just took a moment, allowing her eyes to remain on her scars, reliving all the horrible memories from every single one of them.

After the ritual was completed, she quickly dressed because she had a meeting with a new crew member. Since the Maquis did not have a personnel office, this was a brand new process being established between the colonel and the colonial parliament. The new officer was going to be their first pilot, which was…

Quark's: Holosuite

Karzen entered the holosuite he'd rented from the Ferengi barman. He entered his personal training program, one that he'd only had limited opportunity to use. Being mostly assigned to the frontier, he hadn't had much access to holo-technology. He'd most practiced martial arts forms that he could do by himself, and when he could find people to train with, he'd train with a partner or even teach a class. The holoprogram had been a gift from his son, Aharon. The boy knew his father could find people to practice N'Deirek (a Romulan martial art similar to Terran Jiujitsu)…
