Mission:
Day in life of a DMZ colonist
Location: Ronara Prime - Parliament Building
Timeline: Post-Speech
Just like all of the other offices within the Parliament building, cheers erupted, tears flowed, happy tears flowed, and embracing happened. From her desk, the Risan chief of staff watched; she was happy for them- she truly was. But as she had since early childhood, she knew when to celebrate, and this was something to celebrate, but there was so much more heartache to come. Hell, betrayal even.
"Not in the mood to celebrate?" Ziveh asked, walking over to her desk and handing her a glass of Panora sparkling wine.
Mysaria took the glass and held it up to cheer with her boss and mentor. "I am. I am truly happy, but...," she started, but stopped, looking at Ziv.
"...I know. What we have achieved so far is a huge victory, and we should celebrate it, but...like the speech said, 'this will be hard,' and it will, but for now we all need this. We all need a morale booster to help us pass that next hurdle, to deal with the next problem." Ziv said, taking a sip of her wine. "So enjoy this while it lasts."
Mysaria smiled, took a sip of the wine, and looked around the office. "What do you think the Founding Bloc or the SFM (Sovereignty First Movement) is handling this?" Mysaria asked, knowing that their party, the CPA (Colonial Progressive Alliance), and the CDP (Colonial Development Party) were going to be happy about this for very different reasons, and that they would most likely work well with each other in these early years, and then it'll sour as things start to balance out.
"Struggle. Truthfully. Both of those parties are stuck in the past. They are gonna struggle to figure out life without conflict. Re-learn to trust, and hell, how to ask for help." Ziv said with a soft smile. "...but we also need those hardliners to remind us what we fought for, and what we are continuing to fight for," Ziv said, taking another sip of the wine. "As for us and the CPD, I think we are both the short-term solution, which isn't a bad thing."
Finishing the glass, Mysaria looked around again, a small smile forming on her lips. "Well, whatever comes, I am always at your side to help or to give you a different opinion on things so we get the best decision we can get."
"I know, and I hope you understand how much I appreciate that, and everything you have done for me," Ziv said, gently placing her hand on hers before pulling it away, realizing she needed to be careful. "Now, go enjoy yourself; tomorrow the work begins again." Mysaria smiled, then left her desk and joined the small office festivities.
